Dress: H&M | Shoes: Converse | Sunglasses: Amazon

Oh where to begin?

It's been a week since I got out of school and the weather has been crappy. I'm thankful that it's not in the hundreds, but could I at least see the sun for more than five minutes? The great thing about this weather is that anything goes. I can wear shorts and a tank top, or a light cardigan and a dress, or even pants *gasp*.

Despite the unusually "cool" weather, I've found myself drawn towards skirts, dresses, and anything girly. I remember in 4th and 5th grade, I was in love with wearing skirts and things with ruffles. Dresses in particular are so easy to put on and style. Just add some fun accessories, killer shoes and you're good to go.

I paired this simple bow printed dress from H&M with a pair of converse and statement glasses. I would wear this dress more often, but after I washed it, it shrunk a considerable amount! I did everything the tag said to do and it still hasn't returned to it original size :( My shopping goal for when I go to New York is to buy more skirts and dresses. I'm so excited for my trip, like you don't even know. I've already planned out all of my outfits and made my "shopping list"

Now that I'm out of school, I should have more time to post. I lost my camera trigger, so until I find it, I can't take any outfit pictures :( boo.

Standard T, Written by a Not-So Standard Girl

Wednesday, May 29, 2013
I've always been pretty open about my life here on the blog, but I've never made a post about all the nitty gritty details about me, so here it is!

As A human:
I'm 15.
Turning 16 in August!
Born and raised in Austin, Texas.
I have one older brother.
I'm about to enter into my Junior year of high school.
I'm Nigerian, and my family moved to America a year before I was born.
I am the biggest Daddy's girl.
I tend to be really sarcastic and I usually think my way is the best way (because it usually is), but when I'm with my close friends I'm usually just really weird. I honestly don't know why people like me.
I always want to meet new people and do things, but I get anxiety sometimes, so I usually prevent myself from doing things I want to.

As A Student:
I'm a total AP kid.
My school is tiny, and I've been there since kindergarten.
I'm the editor for our yearbook.
I procrastinate, and most of my homework gets done around 5 to 8 o'clock in the morning.
I love math and history, but I'm not a fan of english.
I think that standardized testing is stupid.
I have the BEST teachers ever.

As A Stylish Person:
My favorite stores are: J.Crew, H&M, Zara, American Apparel, Madewell, Old Navy, Gap, Topshop, Target, and Forever 21.
I have a hard time finding things that fit me how I want.
I'm pretty small (xs-s, 00-1 and all that jazz)
I love color.
Leggings > Sweatpants all day erryday.
I really bad at accessorizing.
I could online shop all day.

As A Creative-ish Person
I designed everything on my blog.
I have a Canon t3i.
I shoot with my kit lens and a 50mm f/1.8
I really love photography, but I suck at taking candid pictures.
I love almost anything DIY.
I'm really bad at designing things from scratch.
I used to design simple posters with the intent to print and sell them, but that never really happened... summer project maybe?

So that's it! Almost all the little details you could ever want to know about me without being considered a stalker. I know a loooooong time ago I said I would film a Q&A video so if you have anymore questions, feel free to leave them in the comments so I can put it in a video!

See Ya Later, Polos!

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

I won't go down with this ship....
Polo: You Don't Want One (but it's from Aeropostale- don't judge) | Skirt: Cotton On | Jewelry: H&M

I've only mentioned it a few times, but my school has a uniform and I am forced to wear a polo Monday through Wednesday, Thursday is college T-shirt and Friday is free dress. I bet you weren't expecting to hear that from a fashion blogger huh? Well today I am celebrating the last time I will ever have to wear a polo, well until school starts back up in July that is. I'm actually really lucky that we have a choice of what polo colors to wear and that we aren't forced to wear those hideous plaid skirts like a lot of other schools. Dressing up my uniform usually consists of a cardigan, some rings, cute shoes, and maybe a necklace or a scarf. I think that polos are officially the worst thing ever. I would burn all my polos, but I kinda need them for next year. *sigh*

Music Madness #10: Finals Edition

Monday, May 20, 2013

For most high schoolers, finals time is here. Not gonna lie, I solely picked these songs based on their titles.

Keep Your Head Up?  So you don't fall asleep.
Don't Panic? Because you got this.
Everything's Not Lost? Because I bet you did better than you think you did.
Everything Will Be Alright? Because it's true.
L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N? Because it's just a test, and you will recover.

And my favorite.

My Tears Are Becoming A Sea, because sometimes you look at your test and think
"what the eff is this?"

Good Luck on Finals everyone!

I Survived.

Thursday, May 16, 2013

For all of you who don't follow me on twitter, or haven't liked my Facebook page, shame on you. Just kidding (not really). But if you don't follow me on those sites, you wouldn't have known that last Friday I took my AP Statistics test and today I took my AP World History test-- and I survived both

My AP stats test didn't scare me one bit. I have the best statistics teacher in the whole wide world; I'm actually convinced that she's a robot because she is that amazing. I got a 5, the highest grade, on both of my practice tests and I felt fully prepared. When it was time to take the test, I breezed through the multiple choice and laughed at the free response. I know I can't say any details about the test, but the number six free response, which is suppose to be the hardest, take the longest, and accounts for most of the free response portion, was so easy, that I bet my seventh grade self could have gotten at least a three (out of four) on it.

And then came the AP World History test.

Do you know how difficult it is to remember what happened from 8000 BCE to 2001? (It's really hard, incase you were wondering.) It also didn't help that I may have not read quite a few chapters in our textbook... I don't understand why the world has to have so many empires and wars. If it were up to me, the world would consist of one large empire that was the same all throughout history-- it would make writing those three essays SO much easier. I actually wrote all three essays unlike my mock exam where I just doodled for like half an hour because I didn't know what to do. (fyi, don't ever do that on a real test.) Although I don't feel like I got a five on that test, I feel like I conquered it better than the Mongols ever could. And yes, I've said that about a bajillion times today, but I feel unstoppable.

Now on to finals...

Help! I Need Somebody!

Wednesday, May 15, 2013
design by me.

This is exactly how I feel.

I am trying my hardest to get some more original and interesting content up. I've been more consistent with reading different blogs and I feel so inspired to do more, and become more that what I already am. I am determined to take all that inspiration, and turn it into more creation, but I need your input on how I can improve and make Standard T the "way above" Standard T. Do you want to see more of a specific type of post? Do I post too little? Too often? Any and all feedback and requests are greatly appreciated!

Cardigan: Forever 21 | Top: PacSun | Skirt: Ross | Shoes: Payless
I've had these pictures on my computer for over two weeks because I couldn't think of a name for this look... Serious blogger problem over here.

I am currently sitting in a room at school for the rest of the day until I take my AP Stats test at one, so I thought I might as well try to get some blogging done instead of studying. I obviously have my priorities in check. The end of school is coming closer and closer which means its time to be tested and stressed to death. Fun right?!

My brother and I have decided to do some Brother+Sister Style posts so look out for those in the near future! If you follow me on Instagram, you have probably seen some of the behind the scenes of part one of our summer shoot. Let me just say, it involves an inflatable alligator, water guns, and fake grass..
Get excited!

Urban Peach Boutique Wishlist

Urban Peach Boutique Wishlist
1,2,3,4

It all started when I was aimlessly scrolling into the depths of Pinterest...

I've recently become addicted to loud statement jewelry items like large watches and bright, bold, bauble necklaces. So when I saw a picture of multiple necklaces in various colors with the caption "any necklace from this site for cheap!" I couldn't hold back-- and I'm glad I didn't. That's how I found out about the online store Urban Peach Boutique.

They have various different necklaces, earrings, watches, and bracelets in an array of colors. Their bubble necklaces remind me of necklaces from J.Crew for only a fraction of the price! I have yet to place an order from them but I definitely have a growing wishlist of items to buy in the future.

Ideally, I would get the bubble necklace in every color, but I think white, red, lavender, and tangerine would suffice, well, for now anyways. I've had my eye on a good looking gold watch for some time now, and I think that the Urban Watch is exactly what I'm looking for!

They truly have every color imaginable, except for a neon yellow, which would be a nice addition. *hint hint*

DIY Stick Vase

Saturday, May 4, 2013
Stick Vase, DIY Stick Vase, DIY, Rustic Vase, Earthy Vase
Hey guys! Today, I am gonna show you how to make this easy, earthy, stick vase. It's quick to make and is an easy way to dress up some old glass containers!
DIY, Stick Vase, Rustic Vase
All you need are some twigs (try to get some that vary in thickness), a glass or thick plastic container, and a hot glue gun.

All you have to do is start glueing the twigs to your container! Obviously, since most twigs aren't straight, you might need to use some extra glue to fill in any gaps.

Wear newly revamped glass vase as a crown. Optional, but highly recommended)

DIY, Stick Vase, Rustic Vase
And there you have it! A spiffy new vase to hold little knick-knacks (or in my case, cough drops) in! You could probably put a tealight in it to make it illuminate, but I would be very careful, so that the twigs don't actually catch on fire! If you're planning to do this DIY, let me know in the comments!

Ruffles & Dots & Ikat Oh My!

Friday, May 3, 2013

Top: Cotton On | Shorts: J.Crew | Shoes: ALDO

Just when you thought I might have gotten tired of these shorts, they make another apperance on the blog. Now that the weather is getting warmer, I've been pulling pieces from my small but growing collection of tank tops and shorts. I love how I can mix two prints without it being too overwhelming. I probably should have saved this outfit for the Fourth of July, but when it comes to red, white, and blue, I can't resist.
