{Favorite Trends From 2011}

Monday, December 26, 2011
2011 was a big year for me, especially fashion wise. My style has done a complete 180... okay maybe more like a 90 but still, my style has evolved and developed a lot this year. I owe this style revolution to many of the trends that occurred this past year. Just because the year is ending doesn't mean that those trends are gonna die out. Here are a few that I intend to wear well into the new year.

Nautical-
Nautical aka my new obsession. The nautical trend was a big hit in the summer because of the fact that it's so effortless and simple. Navy, white, red and gold are the main colors that fuel this trend. Stripes, ropes/knots and anchors are also a few main staples for the nautical trend.

Tribal Print-
Tribal prints crude lines and vivid colors helped it become a major summer trend. I love tribal printed skirts with a simple top or loose racerback tribal printed tank tops! Tribal prints are a statement of their own which makes them very easy to work with. All you need are some solid colored pieces to make an outfit!

Color Blocking-
Color blocking is extremely simple and packs a punch. I love seeing neutral tans paired with bold neon colors! It's simple yet sophisticated. It's a bold new approach on color combinations.

Minimalism-
With the minimalism trend color and cut is everything. We all know about my love for minimalism! Bold yet simple color palettes make this trend very summer appropriate. UK Vouge describes the trend as "Simplicity and luxury combine to elegant effect" Well said.

Keep Shining,
Toyosi

{12:13 AM}

Wednesday, December 21, 2011
As I begin typing this post it is 12/22/2011 at 12:13 AM. Christmas is only 3 days away. I'm currently sitting here in my new chair, at my new desk as it drizzles outside. I haven't done a 'Personal Post' in quite some time! It feels kinda good just to type out my thoughts and post it. Almost as if I'm getting rid of anything that is currently bothering my mind. I'm sick at the moment and have a runny/congested nose. I've been kinda bumming it (you know, the usual) and the fact that I'm on winter break doesn't help. I know I haven been posting very often on here and I really do apologize but my head is constantly thinking about spring/summer. Its been very rainy and grey here and I'm not a fan (Last time I checked I didn't live in Seattle!) I'm craving a pair of denim shorts and a sunny day. I'm actually compiling a list of things to buy this year. Y'all know that I'm on Operation Minimalist and I'm trying to get rid of a ton of stuff but, clothing is one area where I cannot resist. I could honestly spend a whole day online window shopping, and I do. If I buy anything in 2012 is better be clothes!  I feel like I had a lot to say in this post but all I really want to do now is curl up in my bed and do some major writing in my journal. Anyways, sorry for the lack of an interesting post.

{Current Want: Christmas Edition!}

Friday, November 25, 2011
Christmas Eve is coming soon
Now, you dear old man
Whisper what you'll bring to me
Tell me if you can.....

It's finally that time of the year!! Kids are sending their letters to the north pole and trying to get on Santa's nice list. Christmas is hands down my favorite holiday! The lights, the smells, the parties, the gifts! While Santa makes his list, I'm making mine (and checking it twice!) I don't expect to even get anything on my list because I'm saving up for a camera and mainly asking for money for christmas but, I thought it would be fun to make a list anyways!

The List of Magic:
Canon EOS Rebel T3i
Anything or everything off of my Room Wishlist
New Pair of TOMS
Coastal Scents Warm and Original Palette
Nail Polishes
Candles
Makeup Mirror
$$$$$

I tried to keep my list very short and sweet. I have so many things to get rid of so I shouldn't think too much about things I want!

{Operation Minimalist}

Wednesday, November 16, 2011
Minimalism is key. This is my mantra for the month and maybe even a lifetime. I have realized that I have a lot of stuff that I really don't need. We always want and want without realizing all that we actually have. I know that I have plenty of boxes full of junk that will never see the light of day. I'm taking it one section at a time and really thinking about what I need and what I want. I'm trying to find the ideal amount of stuff that I think is appropriate. I will do some more detailed posts about how I plan to detox certain areas of my room/life. Hopefully you guys will join me in Operation Minimalist.

Why I like it: Cobalt and a greenish mustard yellow put together in one outfit. Do I need to say more? The dress has a very expensive look (And Price!). The cobalt adds some nice contrast. The very simple jewelry and makeup helps the outfit look polished without being too over done.

{My Fall & Winter Clothing Essentials}

Saturday, November 5, 2011
Its finally getting cold here which is making me look over my puny winter warbrode. Considering that I spend most of the winter at home in my PJ's, I don't need that many winter clothing items but, I do have some items which are essential for my winter wardrobe.

Jeans/Jeggings- Hands down one of the most versatile pieces of clothing ever invented. I like jeans because they tend to be thicker and keep me warm but I prefer jeggings because they're comfortable!

Leggings- I love to wear a pair of leggings to sleep! I also like leggings because I can wear them under pants or skirts when it's extremely cold out.

Thick Tank Tops- Thick tank tops are a must for layering. I like to toss a thick coat or cardigan over a simple tank top or even go out in a tank top and hoodie.

Hoodies- Extremely casual and comfortable. That is all.

Oversized Sweaters- Oversized sweaters are an easy way to add warmth and style. They can look very causal or chic and posh.

Tall Boots- Keep your legs warm and look phenomenal with some skinny jeans tucked into them.

Blazers and Trench Coats- The pinnacle of winter fashion. Very sleek, crisp and cozy. What else could you want?

Room Wishlist

Monday, October 31, 2011
I decided to change rooms over the summer to the larger guest room. The room was completely empty when I chose to do so. I had a grand vision of what I wanted my room to look like. I knew everything I wanted, where to get it from and exactly how it would fit with the 'theme' of my room. Since school started everybody has been busy and my dream room has come to a halt. Hopefully I will be able to get everything I want/need for my room soon since I plan on decorating my room for the holidays. I thought it would be interesting if I compiled a list of what I wanted for my room!

Wishlist:
Desk- IKEA
Green Throw blanket- IKEA
Black bedding- IKEA
Chair for my desk (White or Black)- IKEA
Whiteboard- You guessed it! IKEA

Now that it's all typed out, I realize that it isn't a lot of things that I want for my room! Hopefully I will be able to get all the things I want by December so I can start the new year with the room of my dreams!

{Current Obsession: Ralph Lauren Striped Shirt}

Friday, October 28, 2011
I recently got a very lovely shirt from Ralph Lauren. I love the classic 'country' feel that Ralph Lauren has! I feel like I should be horseback riding in the mountains on a private estate when I wear anything from them. They happened to be having a sale at the outlet so I ended up getting the shirt for about 25 dollars, which I think is pretty good considering that it's very thick and a name brand at that. The shirt is very simple. a long sleeved shirt with wide horizontal green and white stripes. I like the shade of green they used because it perfectly matches a green crayola marker. My favorite part about the shirt it the purple logo. It's small but adds a nice contrast. Since the shirt is pretty thick, I could only wear it in the fall and winter. I would probably wear it tucked into dark wash jeans with a dark brown or cognac leather belt and some simple boots. If I wanted to be more dressy I would tuck it into a black pencil skirt with tights and boots. I think that this shirt was well worth the money and it will be worn a lot this fall and winter!

Then and Now

Then and Now by forevermac321 featuring platform booties

Why I like it: The colors scream fall. Vibrant yet neutral. The top and blazer are very classy while the jeans and shoes add a relaxed but done up feel. The bag has a vintage look and the purple compliments the yellow perfectly. The shades and accessories once again add a relaxed look which keeps the outfit from being to dressy.

{12:42 AM}

Saturday, October 15, 2011
As I begin typing this, it is Sunday, October 16 2011 at 12:42. I have decided to start posting some random posts on here so y'all don't get too bored. Well Tonight I decided to skip homecoming and I'm completely regretting it. Oh well, there's always next year. Anyways, I was sitting at home in my bed deep in thought (like always). I want to become someone who is good at expressing themselves. Whether it be through photography, editing, cinematography ect. I know I have the skills and the resources but what I lack is the motivation. I think that this should all come easily to me- everything has, but this is something that won't be done in a few hours or even days. Instead of focusing the the final outcome I need to focus more on actually making it. Every snap, every import, every clip. What makes art amazing is not just what you see, but all the labor, time, emotion and feelings behind it. Before I start getting to poetic here I am going to stop and wait for Final Cut Pro X to finish downloading so I can take some time to work with it.

Lots Of Glitter, hope and other magical things,
Toyosi

Autumn Adventure.

Autumn Adventure.

Why I Like It: This outfit is very comfy! The large top and fitting pants balance each other out and will keep you warm . I love the camel color of the top. It's not a color you see everyday but it blends in perfectly with the fall atmosphere. I would keep the makeup simple but add a bit more color than usual on the lips. For accessories I paired a simple corduroy backpack, a black blue nail polish and the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. It's such a unique color which will contrast against the camel colored sweater.

{Light Me Up!}

Sunday, October 9, 2011
Candles are one of my favorite parts about fall and winter. They fill up my room with their delectable scent and give a calming presence. My favorite candles are the Slatkin & Co. candles because they have a wider range and the scents are a bit more complex. They are available at Bath & Body works and can cost anywhere between $3.50 to $20. Some of my favorites are listed down below!

Hot Buttered Rum- Rich and delicious, a comforting blend of spiced rum and warm caramel, with a touch of vanilla bourbon

Pumpkin Caramel Latte- A frothy blend of creamy pumpkin, sweet vanilla cream and rich pralines is topped with a spiced caramel swirl.

Frosted Cupcake- A decadent combination of rich buttercream frosting, sugar and fresh vanilla bean, finished with the essence of cake batter

Salty Caramel- Sweet cream and caramel sprinkled with glazed pecans.

{Current Want}

Current Want: Pumpkin Spice Latte
Why?: Because its the most wonderful thing I've ever tasted.

It's currently very gloomy outside; the sky is filled with dark slate grey clouds and the wind is gently tousling the trees. I'm sitting her in my dimly lit room writing and attempting to magically become inspired. A Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks would perfectly compliment my situation at the moment.
