The Golden Hour

Thursday, August 29, 2013
Yeah, you can tell that I'm really digging this lighting! I wore this outfit to church last Sunday because it was the perfect balance of comfortable and cute. I have an affinity for all things stretchy, so these ponte pants are basically my life. This loose, boxy, tee from Gap is exactly what I want a shirt to be: soft, and striped. The necklace is actually a gift from mr friend Andrea, and I love how perfectly it matches my shoes and bag from H&M.

It's funny to see how much my style has changed over the past year. A year ago I hated wearing necklaces, I had only one bag that I used for everything, and I wasn't crazy about shoes. Now, necklaces are my weakness, my lonely bag has a few new friends, and I could spend all day dreaming about the perfect pair of booties. I used to spend my time filling up a cart on Hollisterco.com and now all that time (and a bit of money) has gone to places like J.Crew and Gap.

It might be because I'm getting older, or because I'm more aware of how people dress, but either way I got to admit that I look that I'm lookin' pretty dang cute.

Wishing Wednesday: Skinny Plum Khakis

Wednesday, August 28, 2013
GAP, Pants, Plum, Khakis, Fall
I've spent a lot of my time perusing the Gap website when I found these awesome pants. The thing that really drew me in was the color. Not burgundy, not fuchsia, not violet, but a beautiful fall appropriate plum color. I've been trying to curb my habit of wearing dark wash skinny jeans all the time by stepping up my pant game. I picked up two pairs of pants from H&M this weekend (khaki for school, and army green because it's awesome), and I love how they look more put together than denim.

I'm also totally digging the fit of these pants. They aren't super skinny like my beloved jeggings, but they are still a very slim fit with a cropped leg. Cuffing my pants is something that I do a lot and I love how casual, but cohesive it makes an outfit look.

I also have my eye on these pants in army green, because there is no such thing as too much army green.

The Dog Days Are Over

Thursday, August 22, 2013

back lit photography, natural light, maroon dress, fall outfits,
Can I please take a moment to say how awesome these pictures turned out! #humblebrag. Cute outfit, great lighting, and a sharp lens, the perfect blogging trifecta.

Now that we're half way though August, I'm counting  down the days until the weather drops and I can eat pumpkin flavored things all day, everyday. Fall is hands down my favorite season. I can walk outside without melting into a puddle, pumpkin spice lattes are available at Starbucks, I can wear a scarves and boots everyday, and everything looks so dang pretty. Even though we don't have a traditional fall here in Central Texas, I still think that everything looks better in the fall, including my outfits.

I just picked up this dress from Forever 21, (I wrote H&M on accident on the last picture because apparently I don't know how to proofread), and I LOVE it. I've had a huge dress obsession the past couple weeks so this simple, pretty dress just added more fuel to the fire. I like the simple shape and the gorgeous color. The color is perfect for the fall and winter, and it's simple enough that I can wear it a million times with different accessories before it becomes too repetitive.

Is anyone else counting down the days until they can break out their fall wardrobe? What are some of your fall staples, my closet could use some new fall pieces!

Music Madness #18

Monday, August 19, 2013
Determined to make this week a positive one. I've been feeling really swamped with school, and I haven't been sleeping at all. The worst part is when I actually do sleep, even if its 7+ hours, I still feel incredible tired and irritable. I found some new song favorites that have been getting me pumped up and happy. If it weren't for these songs, "I Walked Alone" especially, I might have not had the energy to write three blogposts today.

Here's to a not so sucky week!

Sweet Sixteen

Sunday, August 18, 2013

A few snapshots from my birthday last weekend. Enjoy!

How AWESOME is the cake my aunt made me?!
 My Mom and I.
My Aunt, Cousin, Me, and My Mom.
MY DAD, I, and my Mom.
This is why I can't take my friends out in public.
Went to Gloria's for dinner. I couldn't even finish one enchilada.

My girl Bethany and I. I've known her since kindergarten and I've managed to put up with her loud, obnoxious, and sassy personality without ripping my hair out. Now that's love.
My favorite foreigner Andrea. I still remember when we met in 6th grade and she shared her cool ranch doritios with me.
My beautiful cousin Wande and I. I bet you would have never guessed that she's a rapper!
THIS GIRl. Somehow I still love her, even after she acts like a toddler and pours frozen yogurt on a bench at the domain...

We saw people taking pictures with Master Chief from Halo at the windows store, so we took pictures with Master Chief from Halo at the windows store. #meangirlsreference #ibarelyknowwhathalois

DIY Hanging Boats!

Tuesday, August 13, 2013
Hey guys!
This video is a quick DIY showing you how to make these really cool hanging boats. I was really inspired by Tara E. pennant flag tutorial. It's pretty self explanatory, make boats using fun, printed, or colorful paper, use a needle and thread to sting them up and put them on your ceiling! I had to use something to help balance it out, but other than that, this is a super quick and easy DIY!

Music Madness #17

Monday, August 12, 2013

Last night was the perfect way to end a great weekend. For those of you who didn't know, the Perseids meteor shower has been going on this weekend, and last night was the peak. Naturally, my brother and I set out to the park at midnight to watch the stars shoot across the sky. I've never seen a shooting star, so last night was AMAZING. I easily saw 15+ shooting stars. The only downside, was the fact that I was up until three and I'm basically living the struggle today at school. I'm literally typing this at lunch since I was too tired to do so last night.

I wanted to quickly say THANK YOU to all the people who wished me happy birthday! I really appreciated it, and y'all made me feel special. :)

Fifteen.

Friday, August 9, 2013
Dress: Target | Necklace: c/o Moorea Seal | Belt: H&M | Cardigan: Forever 21

It's strange to think that when I wake up tomorrow, I'll no longer be fifteen. You'd think that I would have been counting down the seconds until my sixteenth birthday, but in reality, it's just been a normal week.

I know this saying is usually used by parents/aunts/uncles etc, but my oh my I'm growing up fast. I've always considered myself a "mini-adult". I like being around older people, having responsibilities, and listening to NPR every morning, but I'm still awkward and have to bum rides to a friends house or the mall. The more I think about it, the more I realize how soon I'll be an actual adult. In only a few years I'll be on my own, paying my own bills and all that grown-up stuff.

This past year has been a blur with a few major highlights: I officially started my blog and met some amazing people on the way, I survived two AP tests, learned how to salsa, fell in love with the city of New York and NYU, went to one or two... or six concerts, and so much more. I'm forever grateful for all the people in my life, the family that's stuck with me, and the friends who like me enough to talk to me, even when I turn into the biggest sass monster ever, which is almost every second of my existence. So to all my lovely friends and family, thanks for being around, and I can't wait to see what sixteen has in store.

Sephora Color Lip Last in Royal Raspberry

Thursday, August 8, 2013

Ever since picking up this lipstick, I’ve been in love, The Sephora color last lipstick in royal raspberry is a beautiful matte fuschia lipstick. They have a range of 26 colors and at 12 dollars a piece, the price is right in my book. Because this is a semi matte shade, it will pick up on any cracks or or dryness in your lips, but that can easily be fixed by applying a thin layer of chapstick beforehand. Once the lipstick dried down to its’ matte finish, it ain’t going no where. I notice very little transfer or fading when I’m eating or drinking. The one downside about this lipstick is the smell. It has a very aftificial, chemical grape scent which could be a problem to anyone who is very picky about scents. Luckily, the smell goes away once the lipstick dries down. Overall, I would highly reccomend this lipstick to anyone looking for something pigmented, long wearing, and affordable. I already have my eyes on a few other matte shades that Sephora has to offer.
